Citrus Chai Tea

Do you ever order groceries? Well sometimes you get a little more or less than what you asked for don’t you? I came up with this recipe on one of those occasions when I got more than I asked for. I asked for an orange and I got a whole 10 lb bag of oranges!

I decided to come up with a way to use those oranges up! This tea is so soothing and it helps with anything that might ail you! It helps when I’m cold, it helps when my throat is sore and it even helps when my stomach is bloated or not feeling very good. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Citrus Chai Tea

Ingredients:

1-2 oranges, sliced ¼" thick
1-2 lemons, sliced ¼" thick
¼ c honey or maple syrup
1-2 cinnamon sticks
1 tsp whole cloves
4-5 star of anise
2 oranges juiced
1 lemon juiced
Bengal spice or chai tea

Alternate orange and lemon slices in a quart size jar, pour honey or maple syrup over to cover the fruit; add cinnamon sticks, cloves and star of anise. Juice the oranges and lemon over the mixture.

Shake to blend. Place in the refrigerator for a few hours to allow the juices to mingle.

Once the mixture has had a chance to become infused with the spices, take out 1 slice of orange, 1 slice of lemon and a few of the spices and place them in your favorite tea cup, along with a bag of a good chai tea. I especially love Bengal spice tea. Pour hot water over the mixture and allow the tea to steep for about 5 minutes and then enjoy!
