Still DIY-ing the Murphy Bed
One Room Challenge, Week 6
We have definitely had a few setbacks in building this Murphy bed! Spending most of the weekend at Home Depot really set us back last week. This past weekend, our son came for the weekend to help Doug put out mulch so we only got to work on the bed together on Sunday. I’m not complaining though! A whole weekend with Matthew is rare since he’s living in Nashville and we had a great visit with him. And the diamond-studded silver lining is our flower beds are all weeded and mulched and look great for the spring and summer growing season!
We have been working on the Murphy bed more throughout the week and I think we will have it wrapped up real soon so we can get started on the bookcases. I thought we’d be building the bookcases by now but we are still getting this bed together. If we can finish getting the bed put together, the electrician is coming to move a few electrical outlets for me. I’m hoping the ceiling fan will be in by the time the electrician is here because I’d love to have him install it so we can concentrate on other things.
Can you believe that once we have this bed built, we have to take it all apart to paint it? I guess it makes sense to do that so you don’t get paint on the hardware or mess up the fresh paint job but it seems counterproductive too. I’m hoping to start painting this week and then once the paint is dry we can put it back together and really see this room take shape!
Next on my list is purchasing a queen size mattress from a local store. I also need to order curtains and bedding. I’m so ready to move on to the styling of this room! It’s going to be a sliding into home base kind of finish!
